Journey to The Avenue?
My husband and I thought we were being called to help start a church in the West LA/Santa Monica area. We flew out there to visit a friend and check out the church. We had even started packing up our stuff. After we got home from that trip, we realized that God wasn't calling us to LA, but that he was calling us here, in the area we both grew up. Around the same time, LSCC was casting vision for a church plant and we knew hat it was what we were being called to.

Family info:
Married to Mike for 3 years, and have two awesome dogs - Joey and Lindley

Favorite books?
"Don't Waste Your Life" by John Piper changed my life, and helped me take the plunge into ministry. "To Kill a Mockingbird" has had a strong impact on the way I see people and how to treat others, especially as someone trying to live missionally.

What did you do before the Avenue?
After graduating college, I went to work for an advertising agency in Kansas City for two years. While I loved working in the creative and team environment, I knew God was calling me to ministry. The exciting thing has been seeing him use the passions and skills for communication that I learned while in advertising to do my job at The Avenue.

Favorite movies?
My favorite movie is Pleasantville because of its message. I like a variety of movies, even though I've gotten some heat about them. I still think Bend it like Beckham and Drive me Crazy are good movies. I also really like Transformers, despite my hesitation to see it in theaters.

What hobbies do you and Mike share?
We love to travel anywhere there's a cheap DING! fare to get away for the weekend. We're big into our DVR and record almost all of NBC's Thursday night lineup, as well as Monday night's Heroes. We enjoy taking our dogs on walks or to the dog park, having people over to our house to hang out, and fantasy football.

Passions?
I love to make relationships and meet people. Finding out other people's stories fascinates me. I love a good kickboxing class and pushing myself beyond hat I feel my limit is. I love getting away to a cozy, comfy place with a great book or my journal and nonfat vanilla chai latte. I'm getting into hiking and trying to be better about keeping the plants on my porch alive. Oh - and I am in love with the Food Network's show Ace of Cakes.
